Hasbro captures another 80’s icon

Does bustin’ make you feel good? Because it certainly does for Hasbro. The toy giant has just announced that, from 2020, they will hold the master licence for the 80’s classic, Ghostbusters. Hasbro isn’t exactly new to owning retro properties what with Transformers, My Little Pony and Power Rangers already under their belt but what does this mean for the beloved paranormal-pest-exterminators?

Well, the timing isn’t a coincidence. Earlier this year saw The Transformers team up with the Busters in comic and toy form; and with a new movie (original cast, ignoring 2016’s attempt) just round the corner,  Hasbro saw this as the ideal time to bolster their impressive franchise line up. Sony’s Executive Vice President, Jaime Stevens had this to say:

“As we build up to release our new Ghostbusters film next year, it was a natural choice to work with Hasbro to develop an all-new line of toys that not only celebrates the new film but also brings us back to the roots of the original film and toy line,”

Hasbro is the perfect choice to bring them back to the original toy line as Kenner, it’s parent company held the license from 1986 to 1991. So, with New York’s premiere spirit-slayers already teaming up with the Autobots, what other double act would you like to see? Mighty Morphin’ Power Busters? My Little Ghosty? The possibilities are wonderful!
