The winged creature synonymous with the city of Liverpool has existed in one guise or another since the 13th century. There are in fact pub quiz facts a plenty to be found on the Wikipedia page dedicated to said creature. This here is the world’s largest Liver Bird, entirely made from Meccano pieces at  Liverpool Shopping Park. Stood at 11 metres tall, the sculpture was created with a nod to Liverpool-born toy-maker Frank Hornby and the location of the first Meccano factory. Designed by internationally-renowned artist Emma Rodgers the new Liver Bird took more than a year to design and manufacture, used seven tonnes of steel, and involved more than 1000 hours of metalworking.
