Quite a few pastimes have been updated for adults of late, the colouring in-revival aimed at re-arming adults with their posh felt-tips and Caran D’ache tins of pastel coloured pencils, in continuing at pace. We’ve had colouring in books (now completed) for Games of Thrones, Star Wars, Harry Potter and even an Orla Kiely one, we’re seasoned colour-inners here, collaborative colouring in, doing the pages we’re not fussed about with the pesky edge disregarding kids, and lonesome with dedicated Spotify playlist for some rather decent downtime. Recently we were introduced to an alternative approach from a chap who reinvigorated the dot-to-dot market, graphic designer Thomas Pavitte from New Zealand and his newly created Querkles. Available as Masterpieces ([pictured), Icons and Animals each image is made up of hundreds of overlapping circles of varying sizes, each allocated a number 1-5 or to be left blank. Choose your own colour palette with enough range to give you dark through to light and, with your shades each allocated a number you can get to work. It is almost impossible at a glance to see which each image will be upon completion, taking an hour solid shading in, stand back and marvel at one very striking and wall hanging worthy work of art. Less than a tenner apiece from WHSmith you can afford to splash the cash on the finest of felt tips.
