So Annoying….

The bumpf we were given warns us that these colourful creations have only one mission on planet earth, to annoy us humans like never before. They’ve obviously never heard of Big Brother on their planet, it’s called Boggus by the way. So, without further ado may we introduce Irritating Ethel, Frightening Florence, Aggravating Alfred, Infuriating Igor, Pestering Percy and Bothersome Boris. Each suffers from flatuence, they snore, jump around and repeat everything you say, your only retaliation is to poke them in the eye to which they react with a scream. Press and prod them on each of their four sensors to unleash the annoyance, take your £20 HERE and welcome one into someone elses home.

The fine Irish singing/dancing/jumping due who defy gravity with their locks were at Hamleys today to help launch one of our favourite FurReals to date. We have spent an inordinate amount of time with creations in the range over the past couple of years but this one, although packed with as much , if not more tech than the rest, feels like it represents a “back-to-basics” approach for the brand. Appealing to a wider age range than mostr before it Cookie has appeared on most of the top ten lists for Xmas doing the rounds of late, Furreal Cookie my playful pup (the long name that breeders use) is hotly tipped to win cute toy of the year 2011, have a look here. No word yet on interactive Jedward dolls, would be keen to see and oversized OFF button on those.

Pinball Wizard

We already have our fair share of desktop distractions that, at a moments notice, can distract us from our chores for longer than we should. We’ve cleared a desk this morning of all other items, Pinball Master has arrived, here to rob us of more time. This tabletop friendly, double flipper controlled, spring action bumping and auto scoring panel with sounds is short on only one thing, apart from the dimensions of its arcade based sibling, it needs a headphone socket. Set your steel ball into action and marvel at the lights and sounds as it makes contact with up to five central bumpers. Get yours for £19.99

The penchant for hosting “Xmas in July” events started a while back, it is a great way to allow publications to get a sneak preview of all that’s on offer for the Yule ahead. Everyone wants to be first to get their  lists out however and now July has snuck itself into June, Tesco showed us their top ten toys at the beginning of June, today it’s Hamleys turn. Thankfully this list has been much better thought through and not so yawn inducing and certainly only the merest whiff of “We’d better make sure we shift this lot, lets stick it in a top ten” – In fact, we’d probably concur with over half of it, but can’t admit how much over a half as we’ve decided to make our own list this year. Yes folks, we’re going to put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons host a live online Xmas in December event, watch this space. For earlybird buyers though, here’s the Hamleys Top Ten for the coming Christasm as revealed earlier today.

The increasing popularity of the RcChopper has been largely due to the addition of the Gyroscope, giving even those with the fattest of fingers the ability to stay aloft for longer. We’ve been looking for something a bit different for a while now, whilst we’ve enjoyed the various chopper models, sizes, shapes, missile firing ones and even one in the guise of a giant wasp, we’ve hankered for more. Last years arrival o the Hawk from Spinmaster had us mildly amused, a camera on board yes great, but with only two channel control it meant our footage was equally split between mid-air flight and tumbling about on the floor. May we introduce you to the  world’s first 3 Channel chopper with built-in camera, a 1.3 megapixel number, to take stills and moving footage AND it features the all important gyroscope so you’ll be taking quality aerial footage. At £70 these are certain to fly off the shelves sharpish. Get yours HERE

On 12 April, 1981, Bucks Fizz were number one with “Making your mind up” and NASA’s Columbia took to the skies from Kennedy’s launch pad 39A. One of these events is being celebrated today, the festivities kicking off live on NASATV – There is likely a gathering for the other occassion but a less grand, couple of few vol-au-vents in a Brighton club at best. Celebrate the remarkable acheivements of this Space program, it is sadly being decommissioned this year, who knows what the next generation of space going and reusable crafts will look like. Here’s a collection of replicas for you to create and keep at home/work/run-around-with-outside.
