Toyology

Exterminate!

If you failed that woodwork type class at school and now have a point to prove about what a DIY whizz you’ve turned into, well here is your chance.

No it’s not a wood workshop kit, that would be way too obvious and you know that we like a tenuous link here at Toyology…

What we have here is the Dr Who Cybernetics set.

The basic premise is that that mischievous Dr Who, what, why, when, how has blown up some Cybermen and you need to reanimate them by joining circuit boards and suchlike, with options of infra-red sensitivity – which can be activated with your TV remote control, object sensitivity – where it senses movement, and light sensitivity – which doubles up as a pretty good security guard.

This might take a bit more patience than we possess, but at just £24.99 here from Firebox, it’s a must have for hardcore fans.

Haynes reveals Bob’s building secrets

Bob the builder. Can he fix it?

Bob the builder. Yes. He. Can!

But only thanks to his trusty Haynes manual, Toyology can reveal.

Yes, we thought for all these years that Bob was a true builder genius type, but it appears he’s simply been following the instructions, just like the time we bought a chest of drawers from a well known Swedish furniture store. We bet Bob has never end up putting a drawer in back to front and upside down though, maybe his diagrams are a little easier to understand..

In a rather novel idea the Bob the Builders’ Owners Workshop Manual gives Bob lovers everywhere the chance to find out more about their cartoon favourites, complete with cutaway drawings showing what’s inside all the machines and full information guides as to how they work. So if you’ve ever had a deep seated desire to learn more about hydraulics, cranes and cement mixing, what are you waiting for?

Well of course you’re waiting for the September 1 release date and to save up the meagre £7.99 it’ll set you back. If Bob isn’t your bag then try the Haynes manuals for Thomas the Tank Engine, roary the Racing car and also the plethora of Wallace and Gromit contraptions, all this way

Musical Mouse

Forget Beyonce, Coldplay and the rest of them, we’ve finally found the real reason to get excited about this year’s Glastonbury: RASTAMOUSE!

Taking his much admired Reggae beat down to the South West this summer, the details of the performance are remaining top secret for now, but we can tell you he’ll be playing in the Kidz field alongside other talent including ZingZillas and the Gruffalo.

Tickets are pretty much sold out of course, but maybe hovering around the site on the weekend might get you a glimpse of the star..
