They’re ba-accck

We loved the first set of Lego Minifigures – it was ludicriously exciting to have the opportunity to own individual miniature men (even if we did end up with what was quite literally an ARMY of archers in our quest to collect them all). But life just got even more exciting. The second batch are here. And they’re actually more impressive than the first…

With a surfer, a mexican, a witch and a mime artist all residents of this second posse which is launched on September 1st – the collectability-factor of these guys just sky rocketed (as if it wasn’t high enough already).

After Series 1 arrived in our lives back in May – so long ago already? – stores sold out as they leaped to number 1 in the toy charts and became the summer must-have. We like to imagine there were actual fights between grown men and young children for the little fella’s..

Still modestly priced at just £1.99, pick your favourite NOW and make sure you’re ready when September comes (at leas the kids will be back at shool soon so we’ll have a better chance at getting there first..)

The popularity of Silly Bandz in the States can be explained by the fact they’re just such a head-splappingly simple idea. These silicone shapes are collected by kids and can be used as a cheap and cheerful fashion accessory or to add another dimension to the stationery cupboards of corporates nationwide. Available as Zoo, Sea, Princess, Western and Pet sets, each pack contains 24 shapes. Silly Bandz have almost 300k people in their Facebook “band” and are set to take this country by storm. £3.99 gets you a packfrom firebox.com – to further reinforce their street cred some schools have even banned them.

The next critter craze

What is it about hamsters? Hot on the heels of the ridiculously successful Go Go Hamster is this year’s must have – Chatimals.

We were taken back to the days of the ol’ Furby at first glance when we got this little chap in the office but in actual fact he’s far less compliant than the strange Eewok type things – actually he’s downright rude!

The idea of the Chatimal is that he mimics you; squeeze his paw, impart your pearls of wisdom and hear it back – then spend the next few days wondering if you actually sound like that… (although once he went into Darth Vader mode we were pretty convinced he has some artistic license on your voice).

There are three of the addictive critters to collect, so if you’re really clever about it you can get them all having a conversation together, discussing how brilliant you are. Get yours here for just £20
