They’re a very visual lot those playthings aren’t they, but we thought we’d try out a media platform where toys weren’t getting an airing. We approached the UK’s leading  parent and kid focused radio station to ask for a Toyology slot. The lovely people at Fun Kids radio said we could have tuesdays at 6:45pm and we said YEEEEEEEES. There are over 300,000 people across the UK tuning in every month on their DAB radios and also online and it infally confirms our status bestowed upon us by a few individuals of having “faces for radio” – FOr you 80′s kids check out this link to the Donna Summer classic tune that’s ben in our heads since securing our place on-air.

Because Bigger is Better

Don’t you remember the time when technology was tiny. Teeny weeny gizmos and gadgets that you used to put in your pocket and then worry you’d lost because they were lighter and smaller than dust..air even. Back then things were discreet – remember the Nokia 8310? The tiniest of phones. We all wanted one (some of us had one, ohhh yeah). And then suddenly something changed. BIG IS BACK.

Suddenly the more garish and protuding headphones are the better; the heavier a phone is the cooler – we’re in serious danger of ending up ended up with some kind of wonky leg syndrome as one side of us is constantly weighed down.

Still – you can’t deny the cool-factor of these R2D2 headphones from our friends at Firebox. Although an office poll has found that the headphone design we’d most like to see are Dalek ones. EXTERMINATE!

Big Fun

Oh my gosh.

Since the dawn of time – or rather more likely since the film Big – surely everyone in the world has secretly wished for a giant keyboard. Your dreams have officially come true.

Just imagine being able to re-enact that famous and weirdly cringeworthy scene, can you feel the nostalgia?

And it doesn’t stop there, this gadget has some pretty nifty features including an 80 note memory so you can listen back to the music you’ve made with your feet, ten demo tracks and even a choice of instruments.

At £49.99 here it’s a bit on the pricey side but we’re really hoping that a giant drum kit and guitar are on the way soon so we can start a giant band..

PaperJamz. Papercuts?

Not enough pennies for Guitar Hero? Not enough talent for an actual guitar? We may have the answer –

Paperjamz is a rather unique creation: a paper guitar. But before you say ‘Surely I could make one of those myself with some paper, a pair of scissors and some felt tip pens’ hold on. You can hook this paper guitar up to headphones and speakers and it has backing tracks for you to play along to.

There are five designs each with different tracks to choose from and there’s a no-cutting-your-fingers-on-metal-strings guarantee, just papercuts to worry about then… But at just £24.99 here you’ll have change to buy plasters
