There is something deeply satisfying about creating stop-motion films, one of the reasons is that its time consuming, the other is that the end result is deeply rewarding. LEGO have rolled out their iPhone app that’ll let you use your LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes figures and sets to create fiilms that are certain to go viral.  LEGO describe the app as follows “Simple tools and guides make it easy to shoot, edit, even score your movie with music”. “Add one of the customisable title cards and share it online and who knows, you may have the next summer blockbuster in your hands.” Well perhaps, at the very least you’ll ave a film that you can make as wildly ludicrous, hilarious and downright daft as you like. We thinkit is imperative that you should dream up storylines that involve other LEGO sets, girls from LEGO Friends as love interests, LEGO NXT as the havoc wreaking creature looking to take over earth – you get the picture. Iceberg, right ahead!

Did you know there was a massive whacking great lump of a ship that was never supposed to sink and then it, well, did. And it happened 100 years ago? No. Well join the hareem of people on Twitter who this week admitted that they thought the Titanic was just a film not an actual historical event. Shambolic.

If you are one of those people, we urge you to immediately go out and purchase this rather fantasmagorical air fix model of the legendary vessel herself and do some historical re-enactments and some serious Google based learning to make up for lost time.

On a more serious note, it is indeed a century since the ill fated liner met her fate in the north Atlantic and while the box office rakes in many dollars with a re-release Airfix have, we feel, gone one better by creating a 1:1400 scale (it was really rather huge after all) replica model of the ship, made up of 381 pieces.

And if you don’t think you’ll get your model all fitted together in time there is slightly smaller version at a 1:1700 scale to consider (priced at £49.99 and £24.99). We’ve got our paintbrushes all ready to pay homage on the 14th.

Da na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na…You get the idea..

And if you don’t, here’s a bit more information… This latest craze of stow and go RC’s has been truly embraced with the range of ‘Stealth Rides’ from Hot Wheels and needless to say the Batmobile is our favourite (although, to be fair, the tank does come a very close second).

Now those clever chaps at Hot Wheels have gone and teamed up with the cool cats of Gotham City to produce this rather nifty little vehicle. The Stealth Rides Batmobile is not only a speed demon it can fold flat enough to fit in your pocket. We’re yet to find a real use for this particular attribute, but we’re excited nonetheless.

Although it’s from the 2010 range people are currently going crazy for this statement RC, which simply requires three batteries, some talent.. and possibly an Ebay account; they’re selling like bat shaped hotcakes (expensive ones). But with the imminent release of Dark Knight Rises, any super fan will be buying a spare seat to the premiere for their RC this summer.

Heroine Katniss sports a bow and arrow, and does plenty of damage with her accuracy in the UK release of the blockbuster Hunger Games today. Since opening in the US kids (of all ages) have been signing up for lessons at Archery clubs, that’s far too faddy for us, just pick up the finest toy bow/arrow kit around in the shape of the fine Z-Curve launcher and have yourself some grin inducing fun. A couple of round-nosed projectiles that easily reach 80 feet and a sucker dart that’ll pretty much latch on to any flat surface (foreheads not included), we predict a sell-out week ahead, we already have ours, click above and grab yours with haste.

We have seen a few 3D puzzlesover the past months, these new ones from Wrebbit (we’ll get to the bottom of that name creation soon) are these landmark builds, each one a 750 piece plus affair, not easy by any means but deeply satisfying when finished. From the Taj Mahal to Big Ben there’s a few to choose from and are about the biggest in their class, and priced between £20-£40 when launched in June over at Amazon.

You’ll be hearing and seeing plenty more about the LEGO(R) DC Universe Super Heroes range over the coming weeks as it hits the shelves, we’ve uncovered it on the virtual aisles on pre-order at Firebox and thought a heads-up was only fair so you could try and save some cash. Our favourite by far is the Batcave set, complete with Bane and his drilling machine trying to rescue Poison Ivy whilst Batman and Robin try and stop him – you decide who prevails. The set lets you transform Bruce into Batman as he travels down in the lift, it has a Batcycle included, the Drill Tank has flick missiles and there are a raft of other accessories to justoifyb the £70 price tag, but wait, what’s that, Holy Bargain Basement Batman, the range starts at about £10 with a Catwoman on a motorcycle….Can you resist her lure? We’re also keen to get our mitts on a Superman minifig, looks the business….

Launched in Vegas this week into what is likely to be the biggest toy genre for 2012 the AppGear range is an evolution from the iOS “appcessories” we saw last year from AppToyz with the unputdownable AppBlaster. These Augmented Reality toys herald the beginning of a raft of toy launches in this area over the coming weeks but Wowwee are first out of the blocks with theirs, and mighty impressive they look too. A range of six is set to be unleashed in the next month, each game requires a physical purchase and then a download of the free app, and happily they all support iOS and Android.

The titles are Alien Jailbreak, Zombie Burb, Elite Commander, Foam Fighter, Akodomon and Mysterious Ray Gun – Look through your smart device and virtual worlds appear in your room, there is little doubt these will, at between £10 and £20, be a sensation. Beware people walking around with toys attached to their mobiles, an increase in lamp post related incidenets is certain to ensue the release of these games. A question to Wowwee if we may though, is the Mysterious Ray Gun so named as it is a mystery to what this particular product is actually about? More Videos of the range in action this way please….

To celebrate the launch of Cars2 on DVD (and Blu-Ray of course) the folk at Disney/Pixar commissioned this rather impressive Lightning McQueen be built – from thousands of Cars 2 toy cars. We’ve a waffle load of stats of great interest to some and little to others so read on and feed your inner geek.

Not all of our suggestions made the final edit in this weeks Sunday Mirror, but we’re mighty delighted with the ones that did – A fine combination for all the family we thinks? Thoughts?

We will be honest here. Upon opening the box for our Appmates toy we were thrown into a dilemma. New exciting toy we want to play with vs preserve the screen of the beloved tablet computer. Perhaps not surprisingly the urge to play won.

The way it works is simple. Download the free Cars 2 Appmates app, grab your little model cars and get playing.

You have to hold the side windows to operate your vehicle, but then you simple move it across the screen and the background moves along with you from a birds eye view, while you complete the various levels.

There are a range of options too which you can win as you progress through the game such as different tyres, headlights and weapons. And with the cast of cars to play with you can explore different parts of the game depending on your character of choice.

While our only concern is that the fiddly aspect of keeping hold of the side windows to make the car work might prove a touch too much for tiny hands, we’re pretty certain that whether you’re worried about scratches on your screen or not, you’re not going to be seeing it any time too soon if the young’uns get ahold of it.
