A firm called Vision Investment Ventures have plans to launch a
Toy shop with a rather big twist in the South of Llondon soon we
heard via Toynewsmag this morning. Not content with just being the
world’s biggest toy shop it wants to bring back large-scale toy
manufacturing back to the UK and its name, well “Grandpa Grey
Goose”. Safety and Enjoyment for shoppers on all floors and a place
where kids can wander alone…. We’ve no idea how they are going to
make all of this profitable but we’ll let them worry and have a blast
in the store when it arrives eh.
keeping one amused
We're unlikely to see the veritable amount of tat that surrounded the Royal wedding last year, we're hoping that celebratory and commemorative kit will all attempt to be as classy as this chess set (over optimistic perhaps). Each piece is handpainted, it truly is a glorious piece of kit that's certain to find favour with those who refer to parts of their abodes with terms such as East and West wing. It'll set you back almost £300 HERE for those interested parties.
Star Wars slot sets – At last
We've been treated to a fair few Scalextric licences over the years, James bond ones were pretty good, Toy Story didn;t float our slot-car racing boat, this pair of beauties has us grinning from ear to ear. Why we've had to wait for so long to get Star Wars and Scalexctric to tema up Darth only knows, and frankly we don;t give a Yoda because it's finally happening - Exactly when we're no sure. So, we have the Micro 1:64 scale Death Star Attack set with a Lord Vader Tie Fighter battling a Luke Skywalker X-Wing, the spaceships have working ...
Cherry picker is a sweet build
It took us a while getting around to building our LEGO Technic Bucket Truck, that’s cherry picker to most of us or elevated platform to those perhaps allergic to cherries or very posh indeed. It’s the machine used to rig up local Christmas lights or fix street lights, very clever vehicles they are too. Just like its real life ride this Bucket Truck has a set of gears to raise and rotate the platform on the back, two more gears let you deploy the outriggers at the side of the vehicle to keep it stable when the platform is fully ...
Off-screen action with Mario
In our scramble to put as many crossover category toys to the test this year (think Skylanders, Wappydog, Angry Bird plush etc) we'd somehow almost missed this plumber based box of racing good ness. The Mario Kart Battle pack features a Mario and Yoshi sat in their rides and an assortment of track accessories for you to establish where your hairpins and chicances should be placed. whilst you race the lights on the nift RC unit have lights which each represent an action you'd find on the console version, Mushroom: Gives a speed boost Green Shell: Sends your opponent hurtling backwards Lightning: Sends ...
Remember the posh Fox?
The upper class fox was at his very best in the eighties, close to the cuff humour for kids TV, often ridiculing his guests and co-hosts, quality Telly. Now you can own your own Basil Brush handpuppet, give him a squeeze and he'll let out his grin inducing laugh topped off with a legendary "Boom Boom" at the end. At just £12.99 seems like a no-brainer.

First seen back in early 2008 at Londons Toy Fair, the Rovio had plenty to shout about but seemed to be overshadowed by all the other Robotic launches from Wowwee (via Character) – Rovio is a clever little blighter, freshly returned from a Mars Mission, his Wi-Fi abilities togerth with webcam make him a a potential replacement to your ever neighbour annoying hme security system. As he wanders your home, checking on your valuables and enabling you to shout at its inhabitants there is no danger of a power shortage as he’ll trundle back to base in time for a re-juice. Pre-Orders being taken now for £250 at red5
Indoor flying machines seem to be in flavour at the moment, the amount of helicopters through Toyology Towers has kept our digits busy on the handhelds for months. This latest addition offers something a little different, VTOL (vertical landing and take off) and using gyroscopically controlled blades starts of with an upward chopper take off then switches into plane mode for whizzing about the room. Anyone looking for the latest bit of kit for their warehouse conversion should grab one now, £69.99 from IWOOT.

Only available until now as an extreme experience now Iwantoneofthose have the gigantic Rollerball on offer to the thrill seeking types with anything from a gentle slope nearby. assured its a massive hit in the States and now Firebox have shipped
over “Beer Pong” gadgetry so that British students can partake
in this sport with the aid of this stylish equipment. The game is
stupidly simple… just lob your ping pong ball across a table and
plop it into one of your opponent’s cup, which comels them to consume
the contents, the sets come with rules but of course you may make
your own to suit the crowd involved. Time to get your Starter Set
(£24.95) or Deluxe (pictured £79.95) in now for some
serious BBQ fun or get practice in for the next World Series of Beer
Pong.

None of the Doctors foes strike fear into viewers as much as the Daleks, the appearance of them on screen had fans across the country ducking behind sofas, even running upstairs for safety (a huge design fault for a race set on world domination). Now you can don your own Dalek voice changing helmet and send a shiver down your own spine as you wander aimlessly uttering "EXTERMINATE" no longer will you have to use the speaking into a fan for the desired effect. This voice changing, sound-effect making, Dalek impersonating creation is the must have item of the moment, its hotter than a curry house on the sun…. It’ll set you back just £40 over at Characters website……..There isn’t a moment to waste, there are comedy moments to create!
We’ve got to admit, chess is a bit boring and we never feel the urge to play the dull game with the black and white board. Now, had someone asked us if we wanted to play with this LEGO Castle Giant Chess Set we might have most definitely would have been persuaded. LEGO has transformed all the plastic pieces into static LEGO characters including wizards, witches, skeleton warriors, dwarfs, trolls, the king and queen of course and loads of other characters too. Forget pawns and rooks, we want to see this lot do battle. It’s the ultimate battle of good versus evil with LEGO characters. It’s available HERE for around £140.
All that’s needed is the famous Fedora and this FX whip and overzealous Indiana Jones fans have all they need for their imaginative escapades. Get into character with this Electronic Whip from Hasbro designed to fit hands of all ages. It even come with carry strap you attach to your belt loops so it’s easily accessible when you need scare some snakes, or the neighbours’ cat. We were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the whip at Toy Fair and to be honest we were a bit disappointed at first sight, but then we found out it plays the theme tune and makes whip cracking sounds so we weren’t disappointed for long. It’s out in May and will be around £15.
New tricks now available over at Pleoworld for your adorable Dino, now he can recognise the leaf and will sit when prompted (rather than after an eternity of chin stroking) and might even catch a cold, a real stinker too. You can also alter his walking strides to higher steps (you rich folk with expensive thick piled carpet) and there is plenty more on offer in LifeOS 1.1 – we’re currently making boots for our Pleo so we can take him outdoors in the Summer, perhaps hook up with other Pleo owners in the park….Obsessed? Us? No way….

The pair of prankster pigs who appeared on-screen from the fifties to the seventies, leaving questionable quality relics from a licensing era thank goodness long passed. Pinky and Perky are to return, in glorious CGI, we hope with their freinds Ambrose Cat, Basil Bloodhound, Bertie Bonkers the baby elephant, Conchita the Cow, Horace Hare and Vera Vixen. Martin Yaffe have the European rights and will produce a series of figurines, playsets and plush toys under the Born to Play brand and will all have interactive features. Trips down memory lane for some and pigs to play with that aren’t Peppa for the young un’s.
